There are three major associations in the Mechanical Engineering Department: Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA), student chapter of Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE), and The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE).
Every year, different activities are conducted for development of soft skills, aptitude, sports, technical knowledge apart from syllabus, etc., under the banner of MESA, SAE and ISHRAE.
‘MESA’ of the Mechanical Engineering Department is an organization formed by the students, which works for the students. The basic aim of MESA is to enrich students with different qualities to add dimensions to their personality so that every student emerges as a multi-functional engineer who is globally recognized. MESA was established in 1990. The motto of MESA is to mould one’s personality to become equally competent in all streams of engineering.
The governing body is formed of the students. The president of MESA is the Head of Department, with a Staff Advisor, while bright and dynamic students are selected for posts like Vice President (B.E), Secretary (T.Y.), Joint Secretary (Girl from T.Y.) and Treasurer (T.Y.) through an interview process. Executive Members (one from each division) and Ladies Representatives (one from each class) are also elected.
Students are given cash prizes for every activity. MESA also awards cash prizes for Best Student of the Year and Best Sportsman of the Year, recognizing those who actively participate in various events organized by MESA and other colleges.
Since 2008-2009, MESA has been publishing a departmental yearly newsletter, MECH BEATS, fostering positive competitiveness and ensuring overall development of students.
MESA Library: The department has its own library formed under MESA. Currently, it holds more than 300 books related to personality development, competitive examinations, and more.
